Aldenham Country Park

We had a really lovely day at Aldenham Country Park today! We spent the morning searching for the different houses in the 100 Aker Wood (from A. A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh stories) and had a friendly 'Pooh Sticks' competition by racing sticks down the river.  After lunch, we explored  the farm and were excited to see rabbits, guinea pigs, cows and their calves and lots of little piglets!

The children were an absolute delight to take on a trip - we were very proud of them!

We had so much fun at our Sports Day today! Badgers and Hedgehogs class came together to take part in some races; including balancing quoits on our heads, the pancake race, hockey dribbling, the shopping race and even a water scooping race! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and have taken lots of photos so you can see us in action!

The children have been having lots of fun in our 'Vet' role play area. The have been taking on different roles, taking turns, diagnosing symptoms and writing prescriptions!

The children have learnt about the Muslim festival of Eid. We found out why Ramadan and Eid are important times for the Muslim community and how Eid is celebrated. The children wrote cards and put up decorations.

Eid Mubarak!

Bean Plants!

We've been busy observing the changes that took place as our beans grew.

The children enjoyed created tallies! They asked their friends what their favourite fruit was and recorded it in a tally!

Our Favourite Fruit!

This week we have been reading, 'Oliver's Fruit Salad' by Vivian French. The children made their own fruit salad today, where we learnt to wash, peel and chop the fruit. The children were very excited to eat it at the end of the day!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

The children had lots of fun making decorations this week and finishing the term off with our Christmas party! They have made an excellent start to school and we are very proud of them!

We hope you all have a lovely holiday and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you again in January!

It's been a busy week in Hedgehogs' class! The children have enjoyed exploring slime and describing how it feels. They've made some fantastic models using the junk modelling materials and have been working hard practising writing CVC words.
This week the children have enjoyed hunting for leaves, sticks and other natural materials to create nests for the owls from the 'Owl Babies' story. In Maths, they have enjoyed using practical materials to find one more and one less than a number.
The children had a wonderful time at our, 'Magical Tea Party', they enjoyed icing biscuits, making lanterns, spider webs, wands and potions! We finished the day off with music, dancing and party food. They all looked amazing in their costumes!

Autumn

The children went on an Autumn walk on Monday to collect leaves and look for signs of Autumn in the environment. Back in the classroom, they enjoyed creating their own version of a leaf person, after reading the story Leaf Man.
Don't forget we are collecting items to donate to St Albans Food Bank on Monday 15th October!
