St Peter’s School

Helping every child to flourish

Positive, Caring, Inclusive

Year 3

12.7.21

We are coming to the end of our art unit based on pattern printing. We transferred our final pattern onto our polystyrene tile and used etching with a pencil to engrave our design, ready for printing next week!

8.7.21

Year 3 have been working on PowerPoint this half term in ICT. We chose to make a presentation all about our school. We added in pictures, animations and even video links!

1.7.21

Year 3 have all worked tremendously hard this week to write their final pieces, based on the classic book by C.S.Lewis, 'The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe.' We wrote a first person narrative about Lucy entering Narnia and meeting Mr Tumnus. Our success criteria was based on using a variety of sentence starters (DADWAVERS), first person and consistent past tense.

30.6.21

We have worked extremely hard this week on our long division method. Our work is beautiful presented and we have been resilient in applying our multiplication knowledge to the division operation.

29.6.21

Today was our Year 3 and 4 sports day. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't on our side so we couldn't complete the whole circuit of activities. However, we managed to complete half and showed some great sportsmanship!

22.6.21

Today Year 3 visited Vertigo Adventures at Stanborough Park, as part of our St Peter's sports week. They completed a high ropes course which included some people facing their fears of heights! The whole class showed great determination and we had a fantastic day!

21.6.21

As part of our Sports Week, we had a fencing workshop from a member of the Great Britain Fencing Squad!

15.6.21

In Art today, we reviewed the dip-dying technique covered in Year 2 and used this knowledge when tie-dying some fabric.

As a class we decided to choose the colours red and yellow as they would stand out the best.

We will use this as the background for the printing of our patterns later in the term.

11.6.21

Year 3 have written their own sequels of the original Biscuit Bear story by Mini Grey. We then recorded our stories for Key Stage 1 to watch!

27.11.20

Year 3 have enjoyed a range of creative activities this week. In science, we have been learning about fossils and we spent Tuesday afternoon making our own cast fossils using clay and plaster. Watch this space to see how they turn out when they're finished!

On Thursday afternoon, the children worked in small groups to create a dance based on our theme of the solar system. They had to include a range of elements and perform their final piece to the class.

20.11.20

This week in Year 3, we have been thinking about wellbeing. We started the week by discussing the 5 ways to wellbeing: connect, be active, take notice, learn and give.

At the end of the week, the children chose another child's name at random and spent the day anonymously doing things to make them happy. We had such a great time enjoying the positivity in the classroom and the children took great delight in leaving kind notes and drawings in their chosen peer's tray.

Welcome back to the Summer Term!
