Helping every child to flourish

Positive, Caring, Inclusive

Wrens

Science

In Science, we have started our unit on "Forces and Magnets."

We explored the idea that forces are pushes and pulls.

We organised each action, deciding if the force was a push or a pull and if the force was starting or stopping the movement.

Maths

In Maths we have been looking at angles. We explored right angles, angles that are smaller than right angles and angles that are bigger than right angles.

We also looked at perpendicular and parallel lines.

 Gymnastics Apparatus

Our reward for winning the PSA Steps Challenge was 30 minutes of using the Gym apparatus in the hall. We had lots of fun putting our gymnastics knowledge to the test!

Anti-Bullying Week

This week was anti-bullying week.

We watched a live lesson by the BBC and this year's theme is 'Choose Respect.'

In pairs we created acrostic poems using the word 'RESPECT'.

Rocks

We have been learning about rocks in science.

We used Slate, Marble, Granite and Chalk and discussed what types of rocks these were. We then used water to test the permeability of them (does water get through) and their density in water (do they sink or float).

PE - Tag Rugby

Today we had our last lesson on Tag Rugby and we put all our newly learned skills into practice.

DT

In DT we have been focusing on 'Shell Structures'. We designed our own nets using Purple Mash and then folded them into boxes.  Here are a couple of our designs!

Science

We have been exploring the human skeleton. We asked the question:

'Do people with longer femurs jump further?'

The Spider and The Fly

We have started our new text in English. We have even had a chance to perform parts of the poem to our peers.

PE

This half term, we are playing Tag Rugby and Football in our PE lessons.

On Wednesday we we learning how to dribble and to pass.

Planet Omar!

We have started our Whole Class Reading text Planet Omar and have been enjoying the first couple of chapters.

Each week we read and discuss a new chapter and practice reading with fluency with our peers. The following lesson we answer comprehension questions!

Welcome to Year 3 Wrens!

Tuesday 3rd September

What a brilliant first day!

We started looking at our new book for English, Mini Rabbit Not Lost, and explored the place value of 3-digit numbers in Maths.

Keep an eye on our class page which will be updated weekly.
