Both the Girls and Boys teams were in action this week, with the Boys playing their first league match of the season on Monday afternoon. It was a scintillating encounter with some fantastic football played by both teams and ended in a 1 – 1 draw, which was ultimately a true reflection of the balance of play.
The Girls were involved in a St Albans City Cup match away at Wheatfields, which was always likely to be a difficult encounter and so it proved. Wheatfields took the lead in the first half, but our team bounced back to level the score with a scrambled effort by Emily in a packed penalty area. In the second half Wheatfields showed their strength in depth as they piled on the pressure and forced home two more in quick succession and then a fourth right on the final whistle. The Girls put in a truly determined performance and showed improvement across the team and can look forward to their League fixture against Aboyne Lodge away on Friday 21st.
