Year 4

Whipsnade Zoo

13th July

We had a lovely day at Whipsnade Zoo today and were lucky enough to see wolverines, lynx, two species of penguins, sleeping tigers, lions, elephants and many more incredible animals! Of course, the highlight was the petting zoo!

Florida's Sea Turtles

12th July

As part of our North America topic, the children have learned why Florida is such an important place for sea turtles. There are 6 species of sea turtles in the world, and 5 of these are endangered so it is important that humans do all we can to protect them. The children created fantastic, eye-catching posters to give hints and tips for protecting these magnificent creatures.

Sports Day

6th July

We had a brilliant time completing our sports day activities on Monday afternoon. Our initial sports day had to be postponed due to torrential rain, but we couldn't have asked for better weather yesterday. We ended the day with running races and a rounders match. Well done to all of the children who competed!

First Aid

1st July 2021

Following on from National Schools Sports Week, the children learned about how they could help people who are in need of first aid. So far, we have learned how to assist somebody who is having an asthma attack, what to do if somebody is unresponsive and not breathing and how to help someone who is choking. I was so impressed by the children's mature and sensitive attitude and I hope we are able to find some time to learn more first aid over the coming weeks.

We used resources from the Red Cross which you can find using the link below:

National Schools Sports Week

24th June 2021

The children in Year 4 have had a great time trying out fencing and archery as part of National Schools Sports Week. It has been lots of fun and I have been so impressed by the improvements shown in just a short session!

New Geography Topic

17th June 2021

On Monday, we started our new Geography topic about North America. Our first lesson was all about Magic Kingdom in Florida. We discussed the reasons why so many people visit theme parks each year and then used a map to plan a route around the park. It was lots of fun and the children demonstrated excellent map skills!

What Christmas Means To Me

Over the last couple of weeks, the children in Year 4 have been working hard to learn the sign language for What Christmas Means to Me. You will be able to see their hard work in action in a Christmas themed video coming soon!

Perhaps the children could share their expertise at home.
