Horrible Histories Medieval Come Dine With Me

This is "Horrible Histories Medieval Come Dine With Me" by Emma Ross on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.

Adding using dienes

What a fantastic piece of optional homework. A really clear description and I love how you have been creative and made your own tens and ones. Well done!

Search It Up - Help I'm Lost Online

This episode points out that, a lot like the world outside, not everywhere on the internet is "nice and just right for you." So, if you find yourself in an upsetting situation, it's important to stop and ask a trusted adult for help.
Why not watch the video again with your grown up and talk about what you would do.

Dance Session 1

The children were recapping their learning from Year 1. Lots of them could remember how to carry out 'the wave'. Nick was very impressed with how many children had remembered.

Mr Men

You may have heard that we have started our Mr Men topic. The children are currently enjoying reading and sharing the Mr Men stories. They are really looking forward to creating their own Mr Men character.

Why not get involved and play a game of guess who with the Mr Men characters.

100% Attendance - WELL DONE!

What a great way to end the week. We have all done so very well to be here every day to make sure that we reached 100% attendance.

This week has been busy in many of ways. We have spent a lot of the week thinking as if we were Samuel Pepys. We have even written part of his diary.

We are looking forward to next week already.

Great Fire of London

What an amazing assembly! Well done to all the children for a confident and clear performance. You should feel very proud.

We also had a fantastic day on Wednesday - hopefully you have been told all about the day and had a chance to have a look at the exciting items the children made.

Thank you to everyone who came to help us on the day, we hope you had as much fun as we did. We would also like to say a big thanks to everyone for helping to source costumes  and helping the children to learn their lines. There are a few videos on the class video page. Unfortunately we are unable to put the class assembly on the website due to permissions however if you were unable to attend the recording and would like to watch the assembly we can arrange for this in school. Please speak to Mrs Zawadzka or Mrs Foster who will help to arrange this.

What a fantastic week!

This week has been another great week. We have been busy using past tense in our writing and today we wrote as if we were Rapunzel and had just escaped from the tower. Our writing has been based around a book called Rapunzel by Beth Woollvin, it is not the traditional tale of Rapunzel.

Below you can see some examples of our writing.

We are really looking forward to next week as we have both our Great Fire of London Day and our Class Assembly on Friday 29th September. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Our first full week!

This week has been a very busy but exciting week! What a great start to the Year.

It was lovely to see so many of you at our meeting this morning. If you were unable to attend we have added the slides and information pack to the 'Other' section of this page.

The KS1 Parents Grammar guide I mentioned this morning can be found in the English tab at the top of this page.

Please let us know if we can help in anyway or you have any questions.

Our favourite web links of the week.

During this week we have used some of the following games and activities. The children have asked that I place a link on the website for them to be able to access these quickly. We would still encourage you supervise the children when on Youtube as we can not be certain of the adverts which may 'pop' up.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/starship/english/games/blast_the_rocket/small_sound/standard.shtml (past tense game)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4AsPGnRjNg (long and short vowel samba)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGvrG6049wE (Crocodile - greater than and less than)

Don't forget we are opening the doors for you to come and read with or to the children from 2.45pm every afternoon.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Year 2 2017-18

Welcome to Year 2! We have had a very busy 3 days and have learned many new routines for Year 2. We hope you enjoyed receiving your postcard home and it gave you something to talk about over the weekend.

We have had some fantastic discussions over the week especially around the book 'A Huge bag of Worries' by Virgina Ironside.    It has been decided that we are not going to worry if we forget any of the routines as we have resources in classroom that can help us.

                                                   Huge bag of Worries

We have also talked about talking to people about our worries and have a special box in the classroom where we can ask to speak to a grown up if something is worrying or bothering us.

Keep checking our class page as we are going to add photos, videos, and details of all the learning and fun that takes place in Year 2.

Mrs Foster, Mrs Zawadzka and Mrs Goldsmith look forward to seeing you at the 'New to Year group meeting' on Friday 15th September @ 9am. If you are unable to attend the resources will be made available on the website.

Until then here are a few house keeping notes:

  • Show and Tell will be starting Week beginning Monday 18th September
  • Spellings and Homework will be given out on Friday 15th September
  • Volunteers are invited to come and either hear children read or read with children from Monday 18th September
