This week's word is: Confused
Last week's word was: Grateful
Week commencing 19th October 2026
Our emotional literacy word of the week is 'Confused'. When we are confused, it means we are feeling unsure or not understanding something yet. We can ask questions, listen carefully, and keep trying until things make sense.
Our collages are now complete after a process of tracing, painting, cutting, tearing, arranging and glueing! Have a look at the amazing work that the children in Robins have done this half-term. Very impressive!
In the Summer term of Year 1, we wrote letters to children who live in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. This week, we received their replies. After excitedly reading their replies, we've now written letters back to them. They will be taken back there over the holiday. Having pen pals is great.
In Maths, we've been learning how to rearrange numbers in a calculation to make it easier for us to solve.
Have a great half term holiday! See you all on Monday 2nd November :)
Week commencing 12th October 2026
Our emotional literacy word of the week is 'Grateful'. Being grateful means feeling happy and saying "thank you" when someone does something nice for you or gives you something you like.
We've had a busy week in Year 2. In Art, we traced our landscapes ready for making our collages next week, we went for a walk to get ideas for our Autumn inspired poems, and our school Harvest donations were collected for the local food bank.
Week commencing 5th October 2026
Our emotional literacy word of the week is 'Guilty'. When a person feels guilty, they feel that they have done something wrong, or they feel bad because they know they did a bad thing.
Robins read a variety of poems in Literacy and chose one to rehearse in pairs. They then performed these to their classmates with volume, expression and actions. They were great!
The golden dustpan was awarded to us this week too! Well done Robins!
Week commencing 28th September 2026
Our emotional literacy word of the week is 'Proud'. Feeling proud is when we are happy and pleased about something good that either yourself or someone else did or achieved.
In Art this week, we observed landscape images and identified the colours that were visible. We mixed primary colours to create the secondary colours that we could see in the pictures. Robin Brooks is the artist that is inspiring our artwork this term.
Week commencing 21st September 2026
Our emotional literacy word of the week is 'Frustrated'. We feel frustrated when we can't do what we want to do or when something doesn't go as we planned.
Robins enjoyed extra playtime as we received 'The Golden Dustpan' for being the tidiest classroom this week!
In Maths, we have been looking at the place value of 2-digit numbers and different ways of representing them.
Week commencing 14th September 2026
Our emotional literacy word of the week is 'Content'. We feel content when we are relaxed, calm and everything feels just fine.
In PSHE, we have enjoyed using 1Decision to learn about being safe and that tying our shoelaces is a safe choice to make. We have discussed the safe and risky choices that we make each day.
Week commencing 7th September 2026
Welcome back to everyone in our Year 2 Robins' nest! It's been an amazing first week back and we have had a great start to this new year.
Last week, our emotional literacy word of the week was 'Ecstatic'. We were all ecstatic to be back at school together!
This week, our emotional literacy word of the week is 'Disappointed'. When we feel disappointed, we are sad that something didn't work out the way we wanted it to.
In PE, we worked in pairs to create our own games with equipment from our 'sports shop'. We thought about the rules and how to score points. We shared our games with our classmates and they were all really fun to play. Thank you to all the parents and carers that attended our New to Year 2 meeting this week - it was great to see you.
