Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Accepted. We discussed how our bodies react when we feel accepted and what kinds of words people might say to make someone feel accepted, such as, "come and play with us" and "that's a great idea!".
This week we have continued learning about division in our Maths lessons and have picked out key information from worded problems and presented our working out in the form of arrays, bar models and calculations. In Computing, we have been learning about various artists and types of art. We then use this as inspiration to create similar pieces of art using the programme 2Paint A Picture on Purple Mash. So far we have looked at pointillism, impressionism and abstract art. Here are some examples of our abstract art in the style of Piet Mondrian:

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Impatient. This week we talked about how our bodies react when we are impatient and talked about times when we have felt impatient.
This week we started using clay in our Art lessons and did some imprinting into the clay to make marks. We also did a Music lesson where we sang songs related to Sun, Sea and Sand and used instruments to accompany us.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Miserable. We discussed what we can do to help ourselves or another person when they are feeling miserable.
This week we settled back into our school routine quickly and continued our Science topic about plants. We learnt about the word 'dormancy' and noticed similarities and differences between the life cycle of a seed and a life cycle of a bulb.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Amazed. This week we read a book called 'Amazing' by Steve Antony. We then discussed things that have happened in our own lives where we felt amazed.
We wrapped up the week before the Easter break by going to the Odyssey to watch Zootropolis 2. In RE we learned about Palm Sunday and the Last Supper with Jesus and his disciples. In Maths we used our times tables knowledge to learn about arrays and prove that multiplication and addition are commutative.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Confused.
This week we completed our Art drawing and painting projects where we used a combination of methods: oil pastels/crayons and water colour paint. We also added texture via mark making to ensure our audience can understand what different things in our drawing feel like. The class really enjoyed this topic and let their imaginations flow!

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Grateful. We read a book called 'Here and Now' by Julia Denos. It shows various different things that people can easily take for granted and encourages the reader to feel grateful for what is around them.
This week we have been working on doubling and halving in Maths and finishing off our stories in Literacy which were following a similar theme to 'Julian is a Mermaid' by Jessica Love. We have been writing in the present and present progressive tense, using conjunctions, expanded noun phrases and apostrophes for contraction and possession in our stories.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Guilty. We read 'Norman Didn't Do It (Yes, He Did)' by Ryan T. Higgins. This book is about a porcupine who is best friends with a tree. Suddenly, another tree appears and seems to be becoming friends with Norman's friend. Norman takes the new tree away from his friend so things can go back to the way they used to be. Norman feels guilty for the way he behaved and decides to do what he can to make the situation right again.
This week we concentrated on practising our class assembly in the Hall as much as possible in preparation for Friday 6th March's final performance. All of the Owls worked extremely hard and delivered an amazing performance on Friday.
World Book Day - Thursday 5th March 2026
For World Book Day we all came into school wearing our pyjamas! We were focusing on empathy and we read 'The Squirrels Who Squabbled' by Rachel Bright. We also did a book character quiz, participated in a Book Swap and paired up with children in Year 3 Wrens to read books together. We also completed book reviews on our favourite books and played Reading Bingo. The class really enjoyed celebrating amazing authors and their work.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Proud. We read 'Julian is a Mermaid' by Jessica Love this week. It is about being proud of who you are and believing in yourself at all times. Julian is a creative, imaginative child who loves mermaids and shares his passion with his Nana. We have also been looking at this book in our Literacy lessons as we prepare to write our own stories similar to this book.
During the first week back to school, we have been practising our class assembly more and started our new Art topic. We have been using charcoal to practice making different marks. This skill will support us with our final project which we will be completing in the lead up to the Easter break.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Frustrated. We read 'The Day the Crayons Quit' by Drew Daywalt and Oliver Jeffers. Some of the crayons were feeling frustrated that their owner does not use them enough, while others are frustrated that they are being used too much, and they want a break!
This week we had the Poetry Festival final. Two children from Owls class performed their poems for the whole school and one of them even won! We are all very proud of all the participants this year; they all did an amazing job.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Content. We read 'The Lion Inside' by Rachel Bright. It talks about being content and accepting yourself just the way you are.
This week we had a DT Day and did our soup making activities. Some children made carrot soup while others made potato soup. A big thank you to the parents that came in to help us.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Disappointed. We read a story called 'The Bad Seed' by Jory John. Everyone thought the bad seed was mean but there was a reason why he was so unkind to everyone. He had been through a lot in the past which made him feel very negative. In the end, he does his best to be as kind as he can even when he is not feeling 100%.
This week we have been focusing on using the expanded written method to work out addition calculations in Maths. We have done this with and without having to regroup the ones into the tens column. Everyone persevered, remained resilient and showed a positive attitude. A lot of hard work and determination coming from Owls this week!
Excitement is starting to build as we have started to discuss our upcoming class assembly; which will be on Friday 6th March.

This week Owls class had a Perform workshop in the activity studio which they thoroughly enjoyed. We also got prepared for the upcoming Poetry Festival by finding and rehearsing our poems.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Ecstatic. We read the story 'My Most Exciting Eid' by Zeba Talkhani and Abeeha Tariq. The main character in the story is called Safa and she felt ecstatic when she visited her neighbours because she made them smile even though they were tired. She also struggled to sleep the night before Eid because she was too excited to celebrate with her family.
The class participated in their first Drumba lesson in PE. The class were working on their co-ordination skills during Drumba; mastering skills such as flams, paradiddles, singles, doubles and triples. On Thursday the class did their soup tasting lesson in DT. The children were very excited to try the soups and showed great enthusiasm throughout. They tried mushroom, potato and leek, vegetable and tomato soup. Tomato soup seemed to be the favourite!

Feel It Time Feeling: Impatient.
We performed our Nativity a total of 3 times - two of which were in front of parents and it was great fun! Parents and staff were impressed and super proud of all the hard work and effort that the class had put into their amazing performance. We also made progress with our cars in DT - we sawed the wood in half, made the cars colourful with various designs and then glued everything together to achieve the final product. Some children were so happy with their cars they said in their evaluations that if they were to do this activity again, they "would not change anything!".

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Accepted.
This week we had Learn and Share and the children showed their parents what we have been learning about in lessons recently. We continued practising our Nativity in the Hall, and we got into the Christmas spirit by starting off our decorations for the classroom.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Miserable.
This week our rehearsals in the hall were underway. We organised where everyone would be sitting and began rehearsing songs and lines properly. All the children have been working extremely hard and showing great enthusiasm for the show. On Friday we went to Windsor Castle! Multiple members of staff that work at the castle said the children were amazing, well-behaved and very respectful. We visited the state rooms, the chapel where Queen Elizabeth II, King Henry VIII and Jane Seymour were all buried. The children also learnt about castles in a workshop.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Amazed.
This week it is Anti-Bullying Week, and we started the week off by wearing odd socks. We participated in 'Challenge Yourself 25' for Children in Need with our own class challenge, and we participated in a 2-minute silence to remember those who fought in WW1 and WW2. A fun, thoughtful, reflective and colourful week for Year 2 Owls.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Confused.
This week we started our new Literacy topic based on the book 'Last Stop on Market Street' where we have been preparing to write a journey story. We also started our DT topic about axles and wheels. The class are now able to label the main parts of a vehicle, such as: chassis, wheels, axles and body. We have started rehearsing songs for our Nativity 'Lights, Camel, Action' and will be going into the hall to practice very soon! Very exciting and busy weeks ahead of us this term!

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Grateful.
As Autumn Term 1 comes to a close, we have evaluated our amazing collage artwork and started preparing for our Year 2 Nativity – Lights, Camel, Action! We have held auditions for all the parts and will begin practising lines very soon. Owls class have worked extremely hard since starting Year 2, and they have achieved so much already.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Guilty.
This week was International Week at school and what a creative week it has been! In Owls class, we have been looking at the country Brazil. We learnt some phrases in Portuguese and facts about Brazil, created Carnival masks and learnt Samba. We had a focus artist for our Art lessons this week – Joan Miró. We created our own artwork using his as inspiration. All the children were given a "passport" as they went to 3 other classrooms to learn about Australia, India and Hungary. We ended the week with some fun drumming lessons in the Activity Studio.

This week we finished our Art topic where we created landscape pictures using collage. We were inspired by the artist Robin Brooks. Owls class were very enthusiastic about completing their work and showed a lot of perseverance and resilience throughout.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Content.
This week it was Children's Mental Health Week and on Monday children came into school wearing yellow. At lunchtime, they danced with yellow pom poms and wrote playground pledges on yellow tags. Seeing so much yellow around the school definitely lifted everyone's spirits and positivity was spread by everyone.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Disappointed.
This week we have been writing our own narratives related to 'The Frog and the Stranger' where Rat saves another animal. The class have worked really hard on using expanded noun phrases in their writing and including as many different conjunctions as they can. We also had a Drama 'Perform' Workshop where the class transformed themselves into a castle and a dragon, pulled the sword from the stone and turned into statues while the witch was around and caused mischief when she turned her back! Lots of amazing facial expressions and ideas – we have a class of brilliant actors here in Owls class!

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Frustrated.
This week, Owls class has been settling into Year 2 very well and has shown a great work ethic. We have been reading 'The Colour Monster' in Whole Class Reading lessons and answered questions relating to the text both verbally and in written form. We have been practising our striking and aiming skills in PE and talked about primary, secondary and complimentary colours in Art.
