Owls

Autumn Term 2

Wb 24/11/25

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Accepted.

This week we had Learn and Share and the children showed their parents what we have been learning about in lessons recently. We continued practising our Nativity in the Hall, and we got into the Christmas spirit by starting off our decorations for the classroom.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Miserable.

This week our rehearsals in the hall were underway. We organised where everyone would be sitting and began rehearsing songs and lines properly. All the children have been working extremely hard and showing great enthusiasm for the show. On Friday we went to Windsor Castle! Multiple members of staff that work at the castle said the children were amazing, well-behaved and very respectful. We visited the state rooms, the chapel where Queen Elizabeth II, King Henry VIII and Jane Seymour were all buried. The children also learnt about castles in a workshop.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Amazed.

This week it is Anti-Bullying Week, and we started the week off by wearing odd socks. We participated in 'Challenge Yourself 25' for Children in Need with our own class challenge, and we participated in a 2-minute silence to remember those who fought in WW1 and WW2. A fun, thoughtful, reflective and colourful week for Year 2 Owls.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Confused.

This week we started our new Literacy topic based on the book 'Last Stop on Market Street' where we have been preparing to write a journey story. We also started our DT topic about axles and wheels. The class are now able to label the main parts of a vehicle, such as: chassis, wheels, axles and body. We have started rehearsing songs for our Nativity 'Lights, Camel, Action' and will be going into the hall to practice very soon! Very exciting and busy weeks ahead of us this term!

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Grateful.

As Autumn Term 1 comes to a close, we have evaluated our amazing collage artwork and started preparing for our Year 2 Nativity – Lights, Camel, Action! We have held auditions for all the parts and will begin practising lines very soon. Owls class have worked extremely hard since starting Year 2, and they have achieved so much already.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Guilty.

This week was International Week at school and what a creative week it has been! In Owls class, we have been looking at the country Brazil. We learnt some phrases in Portuguese and facts about Brazil, created Carnival masks and learnt Samba. We had a focus artist for our Art lessons this week – Joan Miró. We created our own artwork using his as inspiration. All the children were given a "passport" as they went to 3 other classrooms to learn about Australia, India and Hungary. We ended the week with some fun drumming lessons in the Activity Studio.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Proud.

This week we finished our Art topic where we created landscape pictures using collage. We were inspired by the artist Robin Brooks. Owls class were very enthusiastic about completing their work and showed a lot of perseverance and resilience throughout.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Content.

This week it was Children's Mental Health Week and on Monday children came into school wearing yellow. At lunchtime, they danced with yellow pom poms and wrote playground pledges on yellow tags. Seeing so much yellow around the school definitely lifted everyone's spirits and positivity was spread by everyone.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Disappointed.

This week we have been writing our own narratives related to 'The Frog and the Stranger' where Rat saves another animal. The class have worked really hard on using expanded noun phrases in their writing and including as many different conjunctions as they can. We also had a Drama 'Perform' Workshop where the class transformed themselves into a castle and a dragon, pulled the sword from the stone and turned into statues while the witch was around and caused mischief when she turned her back! Lots of amazing facial expressions and ideas – we have a class of brilliant actors here in Owls class!

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Frustrated.

This week, Owls class has been settling into Year 2 very well and has shown a great work ethic. We have been reading 'The Colour Monster' in Whole Class Reading lessons and answered questions relating to the text both verbally and in written form. We have been practising our striking and aiming skills in PE and talked about primary, secondary and complimentary colours in Art.

Feel It Time Feeling of the Week is: Ecstatic.

Welcome to the Year 2 Owls' class page. We are a positive, caring and inclusive class that always see mistakes as how we learn and keep each other motivated by sharing positive affirmations and words of encouragement with each other. We hope you enjoy seeing what we get up to during this academic year.
