In Literacy we have read 'Ravi's Roar' and 'Ruby's Worry' by Tom Percival. We have been writing our own stories about a worry or roar we had in the past.

This week we have begun our new topic of 'Materials' in Science. We sorted objects according to the material they were made from.

 

Week commencing 12.1.26

In Maths we are learning about measuring. This week, we have been putting objects in order according to length and ourselves in order according to height.

Week commencing 5.1.26

We have been learning about the names and properties of 2D shapes. We went on a shape walk around school to see which 2D shapes we could spot.

Today we have been doing some Christmas orienteering with our Year 5 buddies.

Our emotional literacy word of the week is 'Nervous'.

In Art, we have been using objects to print with and have made and used a stencil. We have learned about primary colours.

In RE this week, we have learned about the Christian Christingle service. We made our own Christingle and learned what each part of the Christingle represents.

Our emotional literacy word of the week is 'Included'.

In Computing we have been designing our own 'placing' games using Purple Mash. You have to drag the pictures into the correct square. 

 

Week commencing 17.11.25

Our emotional literacy word of the week is 'Keen'.

We have been learning about Diwali and made these Rangoli patterns from coloured rice.

 

Week commencing 10.11.25

Our emotional literacy word of the week is 'Embarrassed'.

We have been thinking about the seasonal changes that happen in autumn. We went for a walk around the school grounds looking for signs of autumn. Here are some of the things we found.

Our emotional literacy word of the week is 'Loved'.

 

In Literacy, we have been reading and writing instructions. Our text is 'Gruffalo Crumble' by Julia Donaldson. We have written instructions for the Gruffalo in case he visited our class one morning. 

Week commencing 20.10.25

Our emotional literacy word of the week is 'Down'.

Last week was International Week. Among other countries, we learned about Australia. We found out about some Australian animals and we also did some dot painting.

We also studied the work of the French artist Monet and made our own waterlily paintings.

 

Week commencing 13.10.25

Our emotional literacy word of the week is 'Confident'.

In RE we had a wonderful talk from a parent about the Jewish festival of Sukkot. This festival celebrates a successful harvest and is a reminder to be thankful for everything we have.  After the talk we made sukkah huts from different materials.

Week commencing 6.10.25

Our emotional literacy word of the week is 'Annoyed'.

In science we have been learning about the senses and this week were focusing on the sense of touch. We wanted to find out if we could identify things by touch alone, without being able to see them. It was great fun and more than a little messy!

Week commencing 29.9.25

Last week we greatly enjoyed our Toys Workshop. We learned lots about toys in the past and had the chance to make some ourselves in the afternoon. Many thanks to those parents who helped out on the day.
