Medical Conditions & Allergies

At St Peter's School, we are committed to ensuring every child stays safe, healthy, and fully included in school life.

It is vital that parents and carers inform the school office of any diagnosed medical conditions or allergies, including asthma, food intolerances, or serious allergies requiring emergency medication like EpiPens. We work closely with families and healthcare professionals to create Individual Healthcare Plans (IHCPs) that outline specific symptoms, triggers, and emergency procedures tailored to your child's needs.

To help us maintain a safe environment, please ensure all prescribed medication held in school is in-date and clearly labelled, and notify us immediately of any changes to your child’s condition.

Key Information for Parents
  • Inform Us: Notify the school office or your child’s teacher in writing about any new or existing conditions as soon as possible.
  • Healthcare Plans: For long-term conditions, we will arrange a meeting to record treatment details and emergency actions.
  • Medication: Parents are responsible for providing in-date medication. For severe allergies, please provide two Adrenaline Auto-Injectors (AAIs).
  • School Meals: We work with our catering team to manage food allergies safely; please check daily menus and allergen information provided by Herts Catering Services.
  • Staff Training: All relevant staff receive regular training in managing medical emergencies and administering medication, such as asthma inhalers and AAIs.

Please discuss your child's needs with the school office and complete an Individual Healthcare Plan which can be found below, or alternatively, pick up a paper copy from the school office.
