19.12.25
This half-term in RE, the children have been learning about how Christians celebrate the period of Advent both in this country and in other countries around the world. In one of the lessons, the children learnt about the Advent candles and created beautiful pictures of the Advent wreath.

Today, we finished our Science topic for this half-term. The children completed their learning about the States of Matter by making posters showing the key processes of the Water Cycle (evaporation, condensation and precipitation).

Our 'feeling of the week' this week has been connected.

This morning, the children were very excited to each make their own Roman style bread. First, the children weighed their ingredients, next they made a dough which they shaped according to their design and finally, they added some Roman toppings onto their dough. Toppings included honey, raisins, dates, olives, feta cheese and mixed herbs. Everyone took their bread home to bake and taste. Tomorrow, we will complete this DT unit by evaluating the baked breads.

It has been another busy week for Seals class and I know the children enjoyed sharing their recent learning during 'Learn and Share' earlier today.
We have started a new unit in Literacy looking at explanation texts. We began the unit by reading the book 'Rosie Revere, Engineer', which inspired the children to invent their own flying machines. The children drew and labelled their amazing flying machines and then wrote engaging opening paragraphs about them.
In Whole Class Reading, we continued reading 'The Firework Maker's Daughter' and we started reading 'The Christmas Pig' as our class story.
In Maths, the children worked on solving worded problems using multiplication and division while in Science, we continued our learning about 'States of Matter'. This week, we looked at how some materials change state when they are heated or cooled.
Finally, in Design and Technology, the children designed their Roman breads which they will cook next week.
Our feeling of the week has been 'insecure'.
21.11.25
This half-term in Literacy, the children have been looking at the poem 'A Small Dragon' by Brian Patten. As their main task for this unit, the children all wrote their own poems about creatures they had found. This week they published their poems and these have been put into a class book for everyone to enjoy. A small selection of their poems can be found below:

Our feeling this week has been enthusiastic (feeling excited and keen about something you are doing or are about to do).

Children in Need Challenge
The class voted to complete a drawing challenge, so on Thursday afternoon, the children had 25 minutes to draw and colour a dragon. (This was linked to our Literacy Unit where we are looking at the poem 'A Small Dragon' by Brian Patten.) The children enjoyed the challenge and produced some lovely art work.
Our feeling this week has been shocked (when you can't believe something has happened or is happening).
20.10.25
This week has been International Week at St Peters and Seals have enjoyed learning about Morrocco, Bangladesh, Germany, France, China, South Africa and Vietnam. The children received a passport stamp on entering each country and took part in a wide range of activities.
On returning to the classroom, the children completed a poster sharing some of their new knowledge about each country.
Today, the children took part in a whole school International Week assembly. Tristan, Olivia, Noah and Ada demonstrated their French speaking skills to the school and the whole class sang 'Alouette'. Also today, the children participated in a Djembe Drum session with Miss Hayden and in Art, they produced artwork inspired by Dutch artist, Piet Mondrian and American artist, Keith Harling.
16.10.25
Our feeling of the week this week is curious (feeling motivated to discover more details about people, places and things). Our feeling next week will be exhausted (when you have no energy left and feel unable to do anything).
10.10.25
This half-term in Art, we have been studying collage. The children have looked at some collage artists, experimented with different collage techniques and practised drawing cakes with lots of different toppings. The children's final piece of work was a cake stand with some collaged tasty treats, all made using their own collage paper. As you can see, their work is fantastic!
30.9.25
The children have been learning about teeth as part of our current Science topic 'Animals including Humans'. Last week, we set up an experiment to find out about the effects of different liquids on our teeth. We placed hard boiled eggs in coca cola, orange juice, milk and water for one week. The shell of the eggs represented the enamel on our teeth. Today we took out the eggs and were surprised by some of the results!
