Otters

Spring Term 1 2026

5.2.26

In Geography over the last couple of weeks, we have been discussing the major changes that have happened to St Peter's in the last few years, including the KS2 building being built along with the sensory garden, MUGA and gym equipment as part of our expansion. We walked around the site to see where the old Year 5 and 6 building used to be and imagined how large the field was before the MUGA was built. Today, the children had to evaluate whether the changes have been positive or negative overall. Thankfully, most of the children went with positive!

We look forward to welcoming parents to our Maths Learn and Share on Tuesday 10th February from 8.40 - 9.30.

28.1.26

In Maths today, we went outside to hunt for perpendicular lines! We know that perpendicular lines meet at a right angle. We used a right angle checker to make sure the angles were right angles.

20.1.26

Welcome back to Year 3 Otters Class page for 2026! Firstly, a huge well done to everyone for their fantastic, confident performances during our Class Assembly on Friday. It was a brilliant way to kick off the Spring term.

In English, we have been exploring Alice in Wonderland and we have now started to create our own imaginary worlds for a character to visit. I can't wait to read the children's versions. In Maths we are looking at bar charts, inferring information and answering questions such as 'How many more?' or 'How many in total?'.

Autumn Term 2 2025

12.12.25

We explored repeating patterns in Art yesterday, developing our insect prints from last week by cutting out our foam plate and using two different colours to improve the visual appeal.

8.12.25

Our emotional literacy word of the week is 'Understood'.

In Computing this afternoon, we used 2Go on Purple Mash to navigate around a treasure island. We used forwards, backwards and rotation to move our 'turtle' to different points on the island. It was tricky to decide whether they should rotate clockwise or anticlockwise.

19.11.25

Despite the cold, wet weather, we really enjoyed our visit to St Albans Islamic Centre this morning. We listened to a talk in the prayer room about the connections between major religions and how Muslims learn about Allah through the Qur'an. The children asked lots of great questions too and were very observant. Thank you so much to our parent volunteers for making the trip possible.

10.11.25

To mark the beginning of Anti-Bullying Week, the children were invited to wear odd socks to school today. We are all different and unique and that is what makes us special! Have a look at some of our socks that we wore and designed.

Affinity Water came in this morning to run a Lego Education session all about saving water. The children worked in pairs to build a robot which they then coded to complete water-saving missions. Our session ended with a quiz - we achieved 100%! It was a brilliant, engaging morning.

Autumn Term 1 2025

16.10.25

We have had a great time doing Art today based on the works of Wayne Thiebaud, an American artist. We used bubble printing for the ice cream cup and a mixture of shaving foam, glue and paint for the scoops.

14.10.25

Our emotional literacy word of the week this week is: surprised.

We've had a great start to International Week. So far, the children have visited Bangladesh and Germany. As part of our visit to Bangladesh, we learnt about the world's largest mangrove forest, the national animal being the Royal Bengal Tiger and that Bangladesh is the 8th most populous country in the world.

The children designed saris using jamdani-style patterns.

3.10.25

Our emotional literacy word of the week this week has been 'relieved'. In Planet Omar, Omar's mum is feeling relieved that he is enjoying his new school.

We really enjoyed our DT lesson yesterday, exploring different methods of stiffening and strengthening.

25.9.25

Welcome to our brand-new Otters class page! Updates will be posted weekly about various elements of our learning. We have been enjoying our History topic so far, attempting to find out how life in Britain changed from the beginning of the Stone Age until the end of the Iron Age. Have a look at some of our work so far.
