In PSHE, we made a poster of safety rules to help others to stay safe in various scenarios, such as playing outside, cooking and swimming. We discussed risky and safe choices, the importance of seeking adult help when it is needed and following instructions given to us. In Maths, we have been comparing and ordering 2-digit numbers and using base-10, bead strings and various other equipment to support us with our learning.

This week we started to prepare for our final piece of artwork. We painted lots of pieces of paper in colours that we could see in our chosen landscape pictures. Once we have completed all the colours needed for this, we will be cutting and tearing them up to stick to our landscape outlines. We have also started to join up our handwriting in our handwriting books, following the LetterJoin scheme. Miss Ives and Ms Fortulanska have been really impressed and appreciative of the enthusiasm and perseverance the class has been showing. Well done Owls!

In Science, we conducted an investigation related to our Materials topic. We tested out different materials in water to see if they were absorbent or waterproof. We made predictions before carrying out the experiment. We wrapped pieces of cotton wool in different materials, such as felt, tin foil, plastic and paper, dunked them in water and unwrapped them to see if the cotton wool was wet or dry. We recorded our results in a table too.

This week we started our Art Collage topic. We learnt about primary, secondary and complementary colours and annotated landscape pictures based on the colours we could see. We also discussed how we would make these colours if we were using paints. Owls were very impressive in PE as they showed off their excellent team work and mathematical skills.

Our first full week back in Owls class has been brilliant. It has been wonderful to see all the new owls in the classroom. We have been getting settled back into a school routine and started majority of our topics. We have been writing in the past and present tense in Literacy whilst reading The Frog and the Stranger by Max Velthuijs and discussed the materials and properties of various objects in Science. Well done Owls for showing such a positive attitude already.
